Life is like a betting game, as old men say. There are various reasons why this saying has an element of truth in it. When we play a casino game, for example, we bet for a few bucks with an expectation to win. In much the same vein, we bet for some important things about life, when we make decisions of significance.

The axiom that life is like a betting game is more or less supported by actual life’s experiences. Human experiences would tell us that in every decision we make, we place a bet. At times, we bet for our own happiness. At other times, we bet for our fortune. And in some very rare instances, we bet even for our own life.
